About the Festival
Organized by Balboa Swing Time, the Rennes Balboa Festival is the must-attend Balboa event in Brittany. Whether you’re taking your very first Balboa steps or looking to refine your dancing with world-class instructors, our festival offers something for everyone: classes for all levels, themed workshops, and unforgettable social dances. Join us to experience the elegance, musicality, and joyful energy of Balboa in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Save the date and get ready to dance the weekend away !
To provide the best possible festival experience, all classes, workshops, and social dances take place under one roof at the welcoming MJC de Pacé, just a few minutes from Rennes. Designed as a true festival hub for the weekend, the venue features excellent wooden dance floors and is conveniently located near shops, cafés, and restaurants. Between classes or before hitting the dance floor in the evening, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to relax, meet fellow dancers, and fully enjoy the unique atmosphere that makes the Rennes Balboa Festival so special.

You are discovering balboa or you have already followed some tasters, join this level to set up or consolidate some fundamentals and enjoy the evenings.

You have at least 3 years of Balboa’s social lessons and practice, you have now understood the importance of working in depth on the fundamentals, in both pure ball and ball swing, you breathe in Out and In’s when you wake up, join the bathroom in crabwalk and come back in snakes, you are able to dance comfortably on tempi over 210 bpm, and play with different rhythms, this level is for you.

Evening Social Dances
Friday Evening – From 8:00 PM
Live music by Opus Swing Trio, a local Rennes-based band blending Gypsy jazz and French chansons, inviting you to enjoy a warm, festive, and truly danceable evening.
The trio features Arnaud Lacarte on lead guitar, David Gastine on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Hugues Lassère on double bass. Together, they perform a repertoire of Gypsy jazz classics, reimagined French songs, and irresistible swing rhythms.
With their genuine energy and outstanding musical chemistry, Opus Swing Trio creates the perfect atmosphere for Balboa dancers, delivering live music that is elegant, vibrant, and full of swing. Get ready to dance the night away to the sounds of swing and the rich tradition of Gypsy jazz.
Saturday Evening – From 8:00 PM
Live music by Hot Swing Palace, a Rennes-based swing quintet dedicated to social dancing!
United by a shared passion for swing, this five-piece band brings the Golden Age of Jazz back to life with infectious energy and original arrangements crafted especially for dancers, particularly Balboa enthusiasts.
The band features Juliette Chevalier (vocals), Arnaud Lacarte (guitar), Julien Silvand (trumpet), Léo Debroise (double bass), and Victor Dubois (drums).
Performing a carefully selected repertoire of jazz standards, Juliette Chevalier’s elegant and expressive voice breathes new life into timeless swing melodies, while the musicians provide irresistible energy through creative arrangements, a solid groove, and exceptional interplay.
Combining sophistication, spontaneity, and rhythmic drive, Hot Swing Palace creates the perfect setting for a packed dance floor. Expect vibrant, generous, and unmistakably swinging music designed to keep you dancing until the very end of the night.

Tea Party with DJ
To celebrate our partnership with the MJC de Pacé, our host venue for the festival, the youth members of the community center will be serving homemade cakes and pastries during the afternoon tea.
All proceeds from the bake sale will help support their future projects. Come and enjoy a sweet treat while spending one last afternoon dancing together!
